The board of directors and staff at Kerr◆Konnect are incredibly dedicated to their mission of providing safe and reliable transportation services, and they work tirelessly to ensure that their customers and the community are well-served.

Mike Burkett

Chair of Board & President

Attorney in Fort Worth, Texas, for over 40 years. Primary practice areas were business organizations, consumer protection, real estate, probate and wills, and municipal law. Now retired. Since moving to Kerrville in 2012, has participated in founding and organization of Kerr♦Konnect. Also is a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and involved in various positions with his church.

Elementary school counselor in Fort Worth Independent School District. M.Ed. degree in Counseling and Licensed Professional Counselor. Now retired. Since moving to Kerrville in 2012, participated in founding and organization of Kerr♦Konnect, also volunteers for Meals on Wheels, Riverside Nature Center, the City of Kerrville Senior Services Advisory Committee, and is a member of the Hill Country Chorale. Has volunteered with Hill Country Homeless Coalition, and Art2Heart.

B.S. and M.S. degrees from Abilene Christian College. For the last 25 years has been in Senior services. Spent 10 years in Birmingham, AL, at Jefferson County Council on Aging specializing in Medicaid Case Management and Meals on Wheels. Last two years as Executive Director of Senior Services of Greater Birmingham Area. 2005 -2019 Coordinator of Dietert Meals on Wheels program. Kerr County Women’s Chamber Outstanding Woman of the Year 2019. Retired in 2019. Currently volunteering at Hill Country Youth Ranch, Kerrville Garden Club, Dietert Center MOW as Assessor.

B.S. degree from Missouri Valley College. Has worked in the retail industry and hospitality industry in management positions. Has also founded, owned and operated a restaurant and senior relocation service. Moved to Kerrville in 2007, and joined the Dietert Center in 2008, moving to the position of Operations Manager in 2010. Retired in 2019. Participated in the organization of Kerr♦Konnect and has been active with the organization since 2016.

Stephanie Ertel

Director

Lifelong Texan, and the fourth generation of her family to live in Kerr County. Graduate of Texas Lutheran University, M.S. in political science from the U. of North Texas. After teaching for over a decade, Ertel pursued a law degree from SMU Dedman School of Law. She was a corporate lawyer at Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer and Feld in Dallas. Ertel's civic involvement includes Hill Country CASA, Kerr County Women’s Chamber, Hill Country Retired School Employees Association, Hill Country Chorale, Interfaith Welcome Coalition, and Texas Impact. Ertel served as President and a board member of the Hill Country Archeological Association.

Staff

Whit Matteson

Program Director

Primary career was in software development with Hewlett Packard, managing 80-90 employees and contractors. After retiring from HP in 2002, earned an Enrolled Agent certification from IRS which allows him to represent taxpayers whose returns are being examined and audited. He is familiar with QuickBooks and non-profit accounting systems. After HP, he also began a career with non-profits serving on several boards and as Executive Director of the Atlanta Youth Choir. Since 1969, he has also served as an organist, choir director and music director of various churches in communities where he has lived.

Kerrville native. Worked as a marketing director for multiple broadcast corporations, technology firms both national and international. President/owner of GMedia, Inc. a Kerrville based advertising agency for over 15 years.
